Ambil – Nachni and Buttermilk Drink
It is a popular drink made in Karnataka during the summer season to hydrate and cools down the body. It is made using Nachni (ragi) flour and buttermilk with some spices making it a perfect drink to sip on in the summer heat. It can be had by everyone right from 6-month-old babies to adult’s and is very healthy and filling.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 tsp (15 gms) Nachni flour
- 1 cup of water (200ml)
- 1 Cup buttermilk (2 Tsp curd and water)
- 2 tsp coriander or mint leaves finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp jeera powder
- 1/2 tsp fresh ginger grated
- Salt to taste
METHOD
- In a cup take 1 tsp Nachni flour and add some water mix well so that there are no lumps.
- Take a pan to add 1 cup water and get it to boil add the above paste and cook till brown and thick.
- Let it cool.
- Once cool add buttermilk, chopped coriander or mint leaves, jeera powder, fresh ginger, and salt.
- Mix well, pour it in a glass and garnish with coriander or mint leaves.
- Serve cold.
